David De Gea has an entirely different destination in mind after the former Manchester United goalkeeper rejected an offer from Inter Milan. Having been let go by Manchester United, the Spanish shot-stopper is looking for his next club. De Gea spent 12 seasons at Old Trafford but is now looking for a fresh challenge.

The 32-year-old has been linked with plenty of clubs so far, with the option of joining the Saudi Pro League still on the table. Inter Milan reportedly approached De Gea to find Andre Onana’s replacement, although they were unsuccessful in their approach.

According to the Daily Record, Inter offered De Gea an annual wage of £4.3 million, which works out at around £83,000 per week. De Gea himself dismissed this offer, saying he wants almost double that money to join another club.

The report states that the goalkeeper is looking for an annual salary of £8.7 million, which works out at £167,000 per week. As Inter isn’t prepared to offer that sort of money, they have moved on to alternative targets. The likes of Anatoliy Trubin from Shakhtar Donetsk and Yann Sommer from Bayern Munich are now considered instead.

After spending over a decade in England, De Gea himself would prefer a move back to Spain this summer to play in La Liga. A move back to Atletico Madrid has been rumored, although they will first need to sort out Jan Oblak’s future at the club.

If De Gea decides to hold out for a lucrative contract, a move to Saudi Arabia might provide him with the best chance of landing the biggest contract possible. Man Utd themselves will be pleased to have sealed the signing of Onana, as they can now look to the future with their new shot-stopper.

“To join Manchester United is a tremendous honor, and I have worked hard all my life to get to this moment, overcoming many obstacles along the way,” Onana said upon joining the club.

“Walking out at Old Trafford to defend our goal and contribute to the team will be another amazing experience. This is the start of an exciting journey for me, with talented teammates and ambitious ambitions to fight for.

“Manchester United has a long history of incredible goalkeepers, and I will now give everything to create my own legacy in the coming years. “I am excited by the opportunity to work again with Erik ten Hag. I can’t wait to play my part in the success I know he is determined to deliver at this prestigious football club.”
