Asante Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey is expecting more following his outfit win over Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League.

In a highly competitive game, the two most glamorous clubs in the country locked horns at the Baba Yara Stadium in the week 14 of the Ghana Premier League.

Kotoko, who were playing away to Hearts of Oak, prevailed in the much-anticipated encounter.


Hearts of Oak shot into the lead through Linda Mtange, but Isaac Oppong pulled to parity before the halftime break.

Putting up a stellar performance, Uganda forward Steven Mukwala bagged a brace in the second half to seal victory for Kotoko. Martin Karikari reduced the deficit in the final minute for the Phobians.

After the game, Lamptey, who delivered an outstanding performance to help his side to secure victory, dedicated the win to the fans while he aims to do more with the club.

“We did this for the fans; this is just the beginning,” he wrote on X.

Lamptey has dominated the headlines in the country following his swashbuckling performance for Kotoko during the Super Clash. He has been tipped as a candidate for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

“I want to congratulate Hearts of Oak players. They did very well against Asante Kotoko,”

“To me, it is quite clear that the Phobia spirit is coming back to stay and very soon, football followers in this country will see that,” he told Asempa FM.


Hearts of Oak are currently 8th on the Ghana Premier League table with 16 points after 14 games.
