In an interview with Hitz FM in January 2024, Asantewaa candidly disclosed that encountering Kuami Eugene at the sing-a-thon venue momentarily caused her to forget the lyrics to Asuoden, a song by Sista Afia featuring the artist.
Despite this initial setback, Asantewaa successfully concluded her marathon singing endeavor, setting a new record of 126 hours and 52 minutes. She expressed gratitude to her supporters on her Facebook page for their unwavering encouragement throughout the challenge.

However, she playfully hinted that if her attempt were to be disqualified, she would humorously attribute it to Kuami Eugene's distracting presence during the marathon. She jokingly confessed her admiration for Kuami Eugene, referring to him as her crush, and humorously blamed him for her forgetfulness during the singing marathon.

Kuami Eugene is my crush. That guy came and I forgot my lyrics. I said to myself that he was going to disturb me with his presence. If the Guinness Book of Records does not give me the record, it is Kwami Eugene. My husband knows I have a crush on him so when he got there, I said he shouldnt have been there. I couldnt remember his lyrics to Asuoden. I just like him, she remarked in a video shared by SikaOfficial on X.
Despite Asantewaa's light-hearted approach to the situation, she was officially disqualified from the Guinness World Records attempt for the longest individual singing marathon.
GWR, in a tweet on their social media page, disclosed that Afua's attempt was not successful but expressed hope that she would make another attempt in the future. They acknowledged the inspiration she had provided to her fans and clarified that the evidence check process had already commenced before Asantewaa requested priority service, leading to a refund of her payment earlier in the month. They wished her the best of luck with any future record attempts.
Afua Asantewaa's singing marathon lasted for five days, six hours, and 55 minutes, starting at midnight on Sunday, December 24, and concluding at 7:00 am on December 29. Despite the outcome, her perseverance and dedication to the challenge were commendable, leaving a lasting impression on her supporters.
