Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, has declared his intention to withhold all campaign resources slated for donation to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the forthcoming 2024 elections. This includes a substantial 42-room office complex and pickup trucks earmarked for bolstering the party's campaign endeavors.
Agyapong disclosed his decision during an interview on the KSM show, pinpointing the mistreatment he endured during the NPP presidential primary in November 2023 as the catalyst for his action. He conveyed deep disappointment over the abuse he suffered and clarified that his original plan was to donate the office complex and pickups to the eventual winner of the primary, irrespective of the outcome.

However, Agyapong stressed that owing to the vilification and mistreatment he experienced during the primary, he has opted to retain the campaign resources for his personal use. He articulated bitterness over the absence of intervention from party leaders to address the onslaught against him, implying implicit endorsement of his mistreatment.
In his words during the interview, Agyapong stated, "This building, we have 42 offices, my intention was if I lose after a civil campaign, I would give it to the winner to use as a campaign office. All my campaign things, you’ve seen some of them sitting there, I will give them to the winner to support. But the way they vilified me, I’ve stayed quiet and allowed them to do whatever they are doing. These pickups, I am not going to use them for anything but I am not going to give them to anybody, I will keep them here."
Agyapong's resolution mirrors the internal schisms within the NPP subsequent to the presidential primary, where he conceded defeat to Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, now the party’s flagbearer for the 2024 polls. His decision to withhold campaign contributions underscores the hurdles confronting the party in fostering cohesion among its members and galvanizing support in anticipation of the imminent elections.
