Ahead of Spain’s UEFA Nations League opener against Serbia on Thursday evening, various La Roja have been involved in media duties over the last few days. One of those is Pedri, who took part in an interview with Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo.
Pedri took part in a quickfire quiz with MD, during which he was asked about a number of topics. He revealed that he would love to be “reborn” as Dani Olmo, his interest in playing as a right-back, and that he would hate to share a flat with Barcelona teammate Lamine Yamal.
The 21-year-old was also asked who his dream teammate would be—he opted for Manchester City’s goalscoring machine, Erling Haaland. Coincidentally, the Norwegian is something that has been appreciated within the offices of Can Barca for a considerable period of time.
If Barcelona can manage to sort out their financial problems in the coming years, a move for Haaland could become viable. He would certainly be the best possible successor to Robert Lewandowski, who will almost certainly be leaving the club in either 2025 or 2026.
#Yamal vows to “leave his mark on football” following Ballon d’Or nomination#
Lamine
Yamal’s first full season in professional football was one to remember.
He was one of Barcelona’s best players during the 2023-24 campaign, and
over the summer, he played a major role in Spain winning Euro 2024 – he
also collected the Young Player of the Tournament award because of his
impressive performances.
Taking
all of this into account, it makes sense that he was one of the 30
nominees for the 2024 Ballon d’Or award, which will be handed out later
this year. France Football announced the 17-year-old’s nomination on
Wednesday, and when they spoke to him recently (via MD), he gave a short
answer on the ultimate goal he wants to achieve during his career.
“I want to leave my mark on football.”
Some
may argue that Lamine Yamal is already beginning to lay a legacy. He is
quickly becoming one of the best footballers in the world, and
Barcelona are extremely privileged to have him as their own.
