Kylian Mbappe has turned down the offer of mediation with former club Paris Saint-Germain as their dispute over unpaid wages and bonuses rumbles on.
The forward left PSG this summer at the end of his contract and signed for Real Madrid on a free transfer.
In his last few months at PSG, Mbappe asserts he was denied over 55 million in salary and bonuses. However, his old team has challenged this, claiming the money was freely renounced.
At a hearing this week with the LFP, French football's legal committee, a verdict was not made in favour of Mbappe. Rather, it has been suggested that the two parties mediate their differences.
However, Mbappe's team is not pleased with the result.
His attorneys released the following statement: "This morning, the possibility of a mediation was brought up. The player's counsel denied this idea throughout the meeting. If a basic examination of the player's payslip reveals a lack of payment, a mediation would be pointless."
Naturally, PSG was more happy than Mbappe with the result, stating in their own statement: "Paris Saint-Germain is extremely happy with today's two-hour hearing before the Commission.
"The Club emphasised that, after receiving exceptional benefits from the Club for seven wonderful years in Paris, the player has made unambiguous, repeated promises in public and privately that must be honoured.
The Commission insisted on mediation between the parties, which Paris Saint-Germain has been requesting for several months, in light of the Club's oral and written reasons. The player has now been invited by the Commission to think about the mediation procedure."
It is anticipated that an employment court will resolve the matter if Mbappe persists in rejecting mediation, however they will probably take the LFP's proposal into consideration.
