Barcelona have set a return date for Dani Olmo following his recent hamstring injury. The Spanish international, who had been in excellent form, scoring three goals in his first three matches for Barcelona, suffered the injury in the match against Girona. Initially, it was thought he would be out for just 7-10 days, but further evaluation revealed the injury to be more significant than first anticipated.

Barcelona have now confirmed that Olmo will be sidelined for about four to five weeks. Despite the injury being classified as minor, the club prefers to exercise caution given Olmo's history of injuries, which saw him miss 29 games last season and 22 in the 2022/23 season.

The plan is for Olmo to return to action in the match against Sevilla on October 20 at Montjuic. This means he will miss the upcoming international break, as Barcelona aim to have him fully fit for crucial fixtures against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. By allowing him to rest and recover over the next month, Barcelona hope to have Olmo ready and in peak condition for these high-stakes games.

Barcelona’s decision to set a return date for Dani Olmo reflects their strategic approach to managing his injury and ensuring he is fully fit for key matches. After suffering a hamstring injury against Girona, the club initially anticipated a brief absence of 7-10 days. However, the extent of the injury has proven more complex, necessitating a longer recovery period.

Olmo’s injury comes as a significant setback, especially given his impressive start to the season. Since joining Barcelona, he had quickly become an important player, making an impact with three goals in his first three games. The injury disrupts a promising run of form and raises concerns given Olmo’s previous injury history. Last season, he was sidelined for 29 games, and the season before, he missed 22 matches, which has understandably led Barcelona to take a cautious approach.

To mitigate the risk of aggravating the injury and to ensure his long-term availability, Barcelona have decided to keep Olmo out of action until the match against Sevilla on October 20. This timeline allows him to rest and recover properly without rushing his return. By doing so, Barcelona hope to have him in optimal condition for high-profile fixtures against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid that follow shortly after.

Olmo’s absence will also impact his participation with the Spanish national team, as he will not feature during the upcoming international break. This decision underscores Barcelona’s priority to have Olmo ready and at his best for their critical league and Champions League fixtures.

Barcelona’s management strategy reflects a careful balance between player fitness and the demands of an intense football schedule, aiming to avoid further injury issues and maintain competitive performance throughout the season.
