The Ghana Police Service has intensified efforts to apprehend a group of individuals from Obuasi who were declared wanted for threatening violence ahead of the 2024 General Elections. The suspects, including Fuseini Yahuza, Bernard Ahedor, Simon, Basit, and Musa Yakubu, also known as Agya Musah, remain at large. The police are urging the public to assist in their capture.

In a statement released on November 24, 2024, the police announced a reward of GHC20,000 for anyone who provides credible information leading to the arrest of these individuals. The statement emphasized the importance of public cooperation in maintaining peace and security during the election period.

Anyone with credible information may contact the Police through the dedicated phone number 0547927272, the statement read. The police also reassured citizens of their commitment to ensuring a safe and orderly environment ahead of the elections.

The suspects were first declared wanted on November 15, 2024, after a video of them making violent threats went viral. Since then, they have been on the run, prompting an extensive manhunt by law enforcement authorities. The police’s appeal to the public highlights the need for collective responsibility in upholding Ghana’s democratic values and ensuring peaceful elections.

The incident underscores growing concerns about election-related violence in Ghana, as tensions between political factions continue to rise. With the general elections drawing closer, the police have taken a firm stance against any actions that could disrupt national peace and stability.

Meanwhile, various civil society organizations and political commentators have lauded the police’s efforts to address potential threats to the electoral process. They have also called on political leaders to encourage their supporters to remain calm and avoid inflammatory actions or rhetoric.

This proactive approach by the police is part of broader security measures being implemented to safeguard the integrity of the 2024 elections. These measures include heightened surveillance, community engagement, and rapid response strategies to address any emerging threats.

Citizens are reminded of their role in ensuring peaceful elections by refraining from activities that could incite violence and by reporting any suspicious behavior to authorities. The police’s GHC20,000 reward reflects their dedication to upholding law and order and serves as an incentive for citizens to contribute to a secure electoral process. This is as reported by 3News
