North Tongu Member of Parliament (MP) Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has criticized the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) over its report on the double identity of Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng.
The MP described the report as a whitewash that casts doubt on the credibility and image of the Commission.
In an interview on Adom FM Dwaso Nsem, he argued that CHRAJ failed to fully examine all the evidence presented, relying solely on passport documentation.
“CHRAJ has engaged in a whitewash on the issue of double identity. Kusi Boateng took me to the High Court, and in the ruling, the court said the issue borders on criminality. So it is shocking that CHRAJ says there is no evidence against him.
“Even if they [CHRAJ] don’t want to see the clear criminality of his diplomatic passport and appointment as Rev. Kusi Boateng, how about the other database?” he quizzed.
Mr. Ablakwa, in January 2023, petitioned CHRAJ to investigate Rev. Kusi Boateng, who is the Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral.
The lawmaker accused Kusi Boateng of multiple identities, conflict of interest, and other alleged criminal dealings connected to his role as Secretary.
However, in a 200-page report dated November 22, 2024, CHRAJ concluded that Rev. Kusi Boateng, also known as Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, holds a single passport under the latter name and has not been issued a passport as Kusi Boateng.
Mr. Ablakwa, however, maintains that CHRAJ overlooked other identification documents, such as a driver’s license and Ghana Card, which he submitted as part of his petition.
“In the EC’s database, he has two voter ID cards. In 2016, he said he was 40 years old and registered under the name Kwabena Adu Gyamfi.
“In 2020, he went for another under the name Kusi Boateng, so how did he grow by 10 years in 4 years? That part of the report is ridiculous. They did shoddy work, and it doesn’t do the image of CHRAJ any good. CHRAJ has brought down its image and credibility,” he searchtated.
