A Kenyan man, Peter Oyuka, has stirred curiosity and mixed emotions after returning to his home village 47 years after disappearing. The now-84-year-old left Makale village in Malava, Kenya, in 1974 when he was 37 years old, only to reappear decades later with the hope of reuniting with his family.
To his surprise, the two wives he left behind had moved on with their lives, remarrying after assuming he was dead or gone for good. Upon discovering this, Oyuka expressed his disappointment, lamenting their decision to not wait for him over the decades.
“I wish my wives were here today to welcome me home,” Oyuka reportedly said, expressing his longing for the family he left behind. He added, “I wish my two wives well in their marriages. However, I’d like them to know that I’m still alive and that they should create time and visit me.”
The Disappearance
In 1974, Peter Oyuka left his home, leaving behind his wives and children. Reports suggest that he spent much of his time in neighboring Tanzania, where he started a new life, fell in love, and even had a child with another woman. Despite creating a new family, Oyuka held onto the hope that his original family would remain intact, waiting for his eventual return.
