Traffic Diversions for Election Rallies and Preparations

As the upcoming elections draw closer, the Ghana Police Service has announced significant traffic diversions to accommodate political rallies and election-related activities organized by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC). These measures are part of the police’s efforts to ensure public safety and smooth movement as the two major political parties finalize their campaign plans.

The diversions aim to manage the anticipated heavy traffic in areas hosting rallies, campaign events, and other election preparations. Key roads and intersections in major cities, including Accra, Kumasi, and Takoradi, are expected to experience limited access or complete closures during these events. Commuters are advised to take alternative routes to avoid delays.

Police spokesperson ACP Kwesi Ofori emphasized that these traffic adjustments are temporary and necessary to maintain order during this high-stakes political season. "We urge all citizens to cooperate with the police and adhere to the directives to ensure everyone’s safety," he said.

In addition to the diversions, the police will deploy officers to monitor traffic flow, enforce road safety measures, and provide security at rally venues. Both the NPP and NDC have expressed their commitment to peaceful campaigning and compliance with the outlined directives.

The rallies are expected to draw massive crowds as the parties make their final push to win voter support ahead of the polls. While the political atmosphere is heating up, residents are encouraged to remain patient and make plans to navigate the diversions.

The police have also urged organizers to stick to their schedules and avoid last-minute changes that could disrupt traffic further. Updates on the traffic arrangements will be provided through local radio stations, social media platforms, and official police communication channels.

As the nation prepares to decide its future leaders, the focus remains on ensuring a peaceful, orderly, and transparent election process. The cooperation of all Ghanaians is vital in making this happen.
