Kumasi High Schools Receive Donations of Computers from Ghana Gas

In a move aimed at enhancing ICT education, Ghana Gas has donated 133 computers to seven inclusive senior high schools in Kumasi. This generous contribution seeks to bridge the digital gap and improve access to technology for students, particularly those in schools that integrate students with special needs.

The donation ceremony took place in Kumasi, where representatives of Ghana Gas handed over the computers to school authorities and students. The benefitting schools include renowned institutions such as Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School, Kumasi Anglican Senior High School, and others committed to providing inclusive education. These schools cater to both mainstream students and those with disabilities, making the donation significant for equal learning opportunities.

Speaking at the event, a Ghana Gas representative emphasized the importance of investing in education, particularly in the area of ICT. "Our goal is to equip students with the skills and tools necessary to thrive in the digital world. Technology is no longer optional but essential for today’s education and employment prospects," the representative stated.

The computers are expected to enhance teaching and learning experiences by giving students hands-on access to modern ICT facilities. Many of these schools previously struggled with limited resources and outdated equipment, making it difficult to provide comprehensive computer training.

Students expressed their excitement and gratitude. Emmanuel Asante, a student from one of the schools, said, "We now have the opportunity to learn with real computers instead of just reading from textbooks. This will help us understand ICT better and prepare us for the future."

School heads also shared their appreciation. Mrs. Abena Boateng, headmistress of Kumasi Anglican Senior High School, noted, "This donation will go a long way in transforming how we teach ICT. We are grateful to Ghana Gas for recognizing the needs of our schools and supporting inclusive education."

This initiative by Ghana Gas aligns with the government's efforts to promote STEM education across the country. By supporting inclusive schools, Ghana Gas not only promotes technological literacy but also ensures that no student, regardless of their physical abilities, is left behind in the digital age.

The donation has sparked discussions on the need for more public-private partnerships to improve education infrastructure nationwide. Many are hopeful that similar contributions will be made to schools in other regions as well.
