Inauguration of the 5th Assembly of the Kwahu-East District
The 5th Assembly of the Kwahu-East District was inaugurated on February 12, 2024, in a colorful ceremony at Abetifi. The event was graced by Hon. Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, along with several local dignitaries, traditional leaders, and members of the community.
In his keynote address, Hon. Dr. Afriyie commended the outgoing assembly members for their dedication and urged the newly inaugurated members to work diligently to serve the needs of the district. He highlighted the importance of grassroots governance in fostering development and encouraged cooperation between assembly members and the community.
The District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Isaac Agyapong, also spoke at the ceremony. He expressed optimism for the future of Kwahu-East and emphasized the need for teamwork, transparency, and innovative solutions to address the district’s challenges. He called on the assembly members to focus on infrastructure, education, health, and environmental sustainability.
Traditional leaders present, including Nana Simpe Asante II, reiterated the need for unity and development-focused leadership. They pledged their support to the assembly and encouraged all members to prioritize the welfare of their constituents.
During the ceremony, the newly elected assembly members took their oath of office, promising to uphold the constitution and work for the progress of Kwahu-East. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and a renewed sense of commitment to community development.
In closing remarks, Hon. Dr. Afriyie stressed the importance of collaboration between assembly members, traditional authorities, and local citizens. He noted that effective governance at the district level is key to achieving national development goals.
