The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League (GHPL) Matchday 14 delivered thrilling encounters across various venues, though two fixtures remain pending. Hearts of Oak kicked off the action on Friday with an impressive 3-1 victory over Berekum Chelsea at the University of Ghana Sports Complex. On Saturday, Asante Kotoko secured a narrow 2-1 win over Dreams FC at the Tuba Astro Turf. Yahaya Baba’s first-half goal and Saaka Dauda’s strike gave Kotoko an early lead, though Dreams FC’s Joseph Esso pulled one back in the second half. Despite their efforts, Dreams FC failed to find an equalizer. At the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, Nations FC roared back to winning ways with a commanding 3-0 triumph over Legon Cities, courtesy of a brace from Nafiu Sulemana and a goal from Barimah Baah.

Elsewhere, Bechem United continued their strong campaign with a slim 1-0 win over FC Samartex at Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, thanks to Darlvin Yeboah’s lone strike early in the second half. Heart of Lions showcased their dominance with a comprehensive 3-1 victory against Basake Holy Stars, with Nana Kwame Oppong scoring twice and Emmanuel Ofori Sakyi adding another. Despite Holy Stars pulling one back, Lions sealed the win with a stoppage-time goal. Bibiani GoldStars also earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Nsoatreman FC at DUN’s Park, with goals from Michael Nkoah and Foster Agyei. Nsoatreman managed a late goal through Abdul-Bashiru Hussein, but it wasn’t enough to overturn the deficit. Meanwhile, Young Apostles and Vision FC settled for a 1-1 draw at the Wenchi Sports Stadium, with both sides scoring in the early and late minutes, respectively.

The league table remains competitive as Heart of Lions, Bibiani GoldStars, Bechem United, and Nations FC occupy the top four spots. However, the relegation battle heats up, with Accra Lions, Dreams FC, and Legon Cities languishing in the danger zone. Two games are yet to be played to wrap up Matchday 14: Aduana FC will face Accra Lions at Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Monday, while Medeama SC will take on Karela United on Wednesday at TNA Park. The weekend’s results have not only intensified the title race but also underlined the fierce competition in the league. Fans eagerly anticipate the remaining fixtures, with hopes of more exciting performances as the season unfolds.
