Liverpool Rejects Real Madrid’s January Bid for Trent Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool has firmly rejected Real Madrid’s approach to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold during the January transfer window. The England international has been a key figure for Liverpool, and rumors linking him to a move to the Bernabeu have been circulating, especially with his contract set to expire next summer. Real Madrid made their interest official by reaching out to Liverpool to explore the possibility of acquiring Alexander-Arnold in January. However, Liverpool was quick to respond, clearly stating they had no intention of negotiating a transfer for the 26-year-old right-back this winter.

Despite reports suggesting that Alexander-Arnold had expressed a desire to move to Real Madrid, Liverpool officials have dismissed these claims. The club remains optimistic about securing an extension with their vice-captain, with talks already underway. As of January 1, Alexander-Arnold is eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs, including Real Madrid, to join on a free transfer at the end of the current season. Nonetheless, Liverpool’s strong refusal to entertain any offers in January underlines their commitment to keeping their key player for the remainder of the season, as they pursue both Premier League and Champions League glory.

Real Madrid’s interest in Alexander-Arnold comes as a response to the serious injury suffered by Dani Carvajal, who will be sidelined for the rest of the season with an ACL injury. The Spanish club views Alexander-Arnold as an ideal replacement for the 32-year-old Carvajal. However, with Liverpool leading the Premier League by eight points and aiming for further success this season, the club is unwilling to weaken their squad mid-season. Real Madrid declined to comment on the matter when approached, but it seems unlikely they will make any moves to secure the right-back in the near future.
