Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas firmly rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal on Wednesday to “take over” and “control” the Gaza Strip.
A statement from Abbas’s office said that both the president and Palestinian leadership “strongly oppose any calls to seize the Gaza Strip and force Palestinians to leave their homeland,” emphasizing that “legitimate Palestinian rights are non-negotiable.”
Abbas’s spokesperson, Nabil Abu Rudeina, reiterated in a televised address that the Gaza Strip is an inseparable part of the State of Palestine.
The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), led by Abbas, also condemned Trump’s suggestion to relocate Gazans to Egypt or Jordan, with Secretary-General Hussein al-Sheikh declaring the organization’s rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians from their homeland.
