Ex-GFA Boss Hails Black Stars’ Revival After Consecutive Wins

Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) chairman, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has praised the Black Stars for their outstanding performances against Chad and Madagascar in the ongoing 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Following a challenging 2024 season—where they won just two out of 10 matches and failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)—the Black Stars have kicked off 2025 on a positive note. They delivered an emphatic 5-0 victory over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium in their Matchday 5 encounter and followed it up with an impressive 3-0 triumph over Madagascar at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium in Morocco.

Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe, in an interview with Graphic Sports, commended the team for their remarkable improvement, emphasizing their unity and discipline on the field. “The overall performance was better than what I’ve seen in recent times,” he remarked. “They displayed commitment and teamwork, and no player was trying to outshine others at the expense of the team.”

These back-to-back victories have propelled the Black Stars to the top of Group I with 15 points, placing them in a strong position for qualification. Head coach Otto Addo’s squad will resume their World Cup qualifying campaign in September with an away fixture against Chad before hosting Mali for Matchdays 7 and 8.

Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe also praised specific players, particularly Jordan Ayew, for their selfless contributions that have helped rejuvenate the team. He noted that Ayew’s leadership on the field, both in attack and defensive transitions, has been crucial in the team’s resurgence. Additionally, he highlighted the role of young talents stepping up to ensure Ghana’s dominance in recent games.

The Black Stars' renewed form is a testament to the efforts of the coaching staff and the collective dedication of the players. Otto Addo’s tactical approach has created a more cohesive and balanced squad, ensuring stability in both defense and attack. The team’s ability to keep clean sheets in consecutive matches is a significant improvement from last year, where defensive lapses cost them crucial games.

As Ghana prepares for the remaining fixtures, maintaining this momentum will be key. With Chad and Mali as their next opponents, the Black Stars must stay focused and avoid complacency. Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe urged the team to remain disciplined and continue working hard to secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He also encouraged the Ghana Football Association to support the squad with the necessary resources to sustain their current form.

Fans have responded positively to the team’s resurgence, expressing renewed confidence in their ability to compete at the highest level. Social media has been flooded with messages of encouragement for the players, with many highlighting the impact of improved teamwork and strategy. The support from Ghanaians will be a vital boost as the team aims to make history once again.
