In a show of unwavering commitment to the nation’s economic prosperity, the Majority Leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, has assured President John Dramani Mahama of Parliament’s full support for his agenda of economic growth and equitable job creation. Speaking at the Kwahu Business Forum on April 19, 2025, Ayariga emphasised Parliament's readiness to collaborate with various sector ministers and business leaders to tackle the nation's economic challenges and foster sustainable development.

Ayariga's address at the forum, which brought together business leaders and financial sector stakeholders, highlighted the critical role of the private sector in driving national growth. “The private sector is an engine of growth, and the business leaders are the drivers and operators of the engine,” he said. His words underscored the essential contributions that entrepreneurs and innovators make in creating jobs and advancing the economy. He further reinforced the importance of nurturing and supporting businesses as they are the foundation of economic prosperity.

The Majority Leader expressed strong confidence in Parliament’s role in ensuring that the government’s promises of job creation and growth are translated into tangible outcomes. “Your Parliament—the Parliament of Ghana, the people’s Parliament—stands ready to do whatever it takes to support your agenda, to ensure growth, and create jobs that are equitable,” he stated, assuring President Mahama that Parliament would work hand in hand with the executive to deliver on these commitments.

Ayariga also highlighted the strategic role of Parliament’s various committees, which will collaborate with relevant ministries and businesses to identify and resolve sector-specific challenges. He reassured the audience that these committees would work tirelessly to propose effective solutions and ensure that the government ministers stay on track in delivering the promises made to Ghanaians.

In addition to supporting job creation and economic growth, Ayariga emphasised Parliament’s role in monitoring the progress of enterprise development and incubation initiatives across the country. He noted that Parliament would oversee the implementation of measures designed to nurture businesses and ensure that the promises made by the government are fulfilled in a timely and efficient manner.

The event also served as a reminder of the ongoing partnership between Parliament and the private sector. Ayariga's address not only solidified Parliament’s commitment to supporting job creation but also illustrated the importance of private sector engagement in national development. As the country looks to expand opportunities for all Ghanaians, the collaboration between the government, businesses, and the people is vital in achieving shared prosperity.

Ayariga’s words resonated with the business leaders at the forum, as they were reassured of Parliament’s proactive approach in addressing the nation’s economic challenges. His assurance of support for business initiatives and economic reforms was a clear message of optimism for the future. The private sector, as Ayariga aptly stated, remains a key player in the national development process, and it is through strong collaboration and partnership that Ghana can achieve its economic potential.
