In a bold and reflective address to party faithful, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, popularly known as JFK, has admitted that the party’s administration has not met all expectations during its time in government. Speaking at a regional conference in Kumasi, he acknowledged the concerns of Ghanaians and emphasized the need for the NPP to reconnect with the people as it gears up for the 2028 general elections.

JFK’s remarks come at a time when the NPP is under pressure following economic challenges, rising unemployment, and growing dissatisfaction among the youth and whole of Ghanaians. “We recognize the disappointments some of our supporters and the wider public feel. It would be dishonest to pretend all has gone perfectly. We’ve made mistakes, but we’ve also learned from them,” he said.

He stressed that the party is undergoing an internal re-evaluation and is committed to regaining public trust. “The NPP is not deaf to the voices of the people. We hear your frustrations, and we take them seriously. If given another opportunity in 2028, we promise to do better, to serve better, and to deliver better,” he assured the crowd.

JFK also took the opportunity to highlight some of the NPP’s achievements in infrastructure, education, and health over the years, stating that while the party has stumbled in some areas, it has also made significant progress in others. “Let us not forget the strides we have made — Free SHS, health projects, road development — these are not minor feats. But we must now go beyond these and solve the pressing issues facing our people today,” he said.

Calling on party members to remain united and focused, JFK urged them to avoid internal conflicts and instead channel their energies into grassroots mobilization. “2028 is not far off. Let us prepare ourselves now, rebuild broken bridges, and carry the message of hope across the country,” he concluded.

His honest and conciliatory tone has been met with mixed reactions, with some praising the transparency while others remain skeptical. However, it marks a notable shift in rhetoric as the NPP begins its long path toward political redemption.
