Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang’s Health Improving, Says Assin North MP

Ghana’s Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, is reported to be recovering well after being recently hospitalized. The encouraging update was shared by the Assin North Member of Parliament, James Gyakye Quayson, who took to his official Facebook page to inform the public about her condition.

In his post, Quayson revealed that the Vice President is in stable condition and showing steady signs of improvement. He cited credible information from individuals close to her medical team, noting that she is receiving excellent care. “We are pleased to share that our respected Vice President is doing well,” he wrote, adding his personal prayers for her full recovery. He also expressed optimism that she would soon return to her duties with renewed energy and dedication.

The news of her health concerns first emerged when the Presidency confirmed that Professor Opoku-Agyemang had been admitted to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC). She had reportedly fallen ill and was initially treated in the country before medical experts recommended a transfer abroad for more advanced care. The decision to move her was described as precautionary, aimed at ensuring she receives the highest level of medical attention.

Presidential spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu later addressed the situation, reassuring the public that there was no need for alarm. He emphasized that her condition was under control and closely monitored by a capable team of healthcare professionals. He further noted that the government remained hopeful and committed to supporting her through her recovery.

Since the news broke, Ghanaians across the country have responded with concern, solidarity, and well-wishes. Social media platforms have seen an outpouring of support, with citizens sharing messages of encouragement and prayers. Figures from across the political divide have also voiced their support, highlighting the widespread respect she commands.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang has long been admired not only for her political role but also for her distinguished career in academia and public service. As Vice President, she has become a prominent advocate for education, gender equality, and national development. Her temporary absence has been noted by many who view her as a thoughtful and principled leader.

Officials have asked the public to continue offering their support while also respecting her privacy during this time.

They’ve assured that any major updates about her condition will be communicated through the appropriate channels.

The general atmosphere in the country is one of relief, as the positive news has eased earlier concerns. Many are now hopeful that she will soon return to her position, ready to resume her responsibilities and continue serving the nation with the same commitment she is known for.

Ghanaians remain united in their well-wishes for Vice President Opoku-Agyemang’s complete recovery and are eager to welcome her back to active public life.
