Here Are the 10 New Police Council Members Sworn in by President Mahama



In a major step towards strengthening national security and promoting professional policing, President John Dramani Mahama has sworn in ten new members of the Police Council at a ceremony held at the Jubilee House. The council is responsible for overseeing the administration, discipline, and welfare of the Ghana Police Service.


The newly constituted council is chaired by Vice President Nana Jane Opoku‑Agyemang, who pledged to steer the body with integrity and dedication. The Vice President underscored the need for stronger oversight and improved public trust in law enforcement.


President Mahama, in his address, emphasized the importance of the Council in ensuring discipline, fairness, and the effective functioning of the police service. “Our citizens must trust the police not just to enforce the law, but to protect their rights and ensure justice,” he stated.

1. Nana Jane Opoku‑Agyemang – Chairperson (Vice President of Ghana)


2. Mutaka Mohammed Mubarak – Member (Minister for the Interior and Member of Parliament)


3. Christian Teteyohono – Member (Inspector-General of Police)


4. Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine – Member (Minister for Justice and Representative of the Attorney General’s Department)


5. Daniel Owusu Nyampong, Esq. – Member (Representative of the Ghana Bar Association)


6. COP Nathan Kofi Boakye (Retired) – Member (Representative of the Retired Senior Police Officers Association)


7. DCOP Lydia Yaako Donkor – Member (Representative of Senior Officers of the Police Service)


8. Chief Inspector Angel Lolo, Esq. – Member (Representative of Junior Officers of the Police Service)


9. Rose Atinga Bio (Retired) – Member (Presidential Appointee)


10. Benson Tunga Baba – Member (Presidential Appointee)


The newly sworn-in members bring together expertise from law enforcement, legal, and civil sectors. They pledged to work with transparency and professionalism to support the Ghana Police Service in maintaining law and order.


Their diverse backgrounds are expected to guide the Council’s efforts in implementing reforms, enhancing internal discipline, and restoring public confidence in the police.
