After being elected president of Cameroon's FA on Saturday, former international Samuel Eto'o will lead the country's football for the next four years.
The four-time African Footballer of the Year defeated Seidou Mbombo Njoya, the Confederation of African Football's fourth vice-president.
Seven candidates were supposed to run in the elections, however five of them dropped out on election day.
Eto'o, 40, has vowed a slew of reforms to help the sport prosper.
He then said, "We have to put footballers in the center of our policies." "It is our responsibility to ensure that individuals who participate in this sport make a decent income."
During his term, the former Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Chelsea great has also promised to build at least 10 stadiums.
"I've spoken to the business community, and we're confident we'll find the proper investors to help us achieve our goals," Eto'o stated before the election.
With the proceedings of the conference broadcast live on national Cameroon television, Eto'o's candidacy drew widespread notice.
When Cameroon hosts the Africa Cup of Nations in January and February, he will be the head of the Cameroon Football Association (Fecafoot).
Former Cameroon internationals Maboang Kesack and Jules Denis Onana were among those who renounced their candidacy on Saturday morning.
