Manchester City are trying to add depth to their current team by signing Layvin Kurzawa of Paris-Saint-Germain (PSG). According to recent claims from RTL France journalist Baptiste Durieux, the storey is true (Via Mirror). Kurzawa, a left fullback, has another admirer in Chelsea who wants to sign him.
Layvin Kurzawa's time at Paris Saint-Germain has not been good to him. In Paris, he is currently unpopular. Since the start of the 2021-22 season, Mauricio Pochettino has only utilised the French full back once.
Kurzawa made 27 appearances for the French club last season, scoring one goal and assisting on two occasions. However, the 29-year-old has lost his position in the team after failing to satisfy the new PSG manager.
Many clubs have been keeping an eye on Layvin Kurzawa's current predicament at PSG and have begun to express interest in signing him in January. Manchester City and Chelsea are among the English clubs connected with a move for him, according to the latest reports from RTL France. Both clubs are hoping to complete a deal with the French club during the current transfer window. Chelsea are in severe need of a full back following the injury of Ben Chilwell, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with an ACL injury. This winter transfer season, the Blues have been linked with a number of fullbacks, with Kurzawa being one of them. Chelsea is reportedly seeking for a loan deal for the French international. Manchester City, on the other hand, does not have the same problems as Chelsea in the full back positions. However, the club is hoping to reach an agreement with Paris and would most likely want Kurzawa to be a 'understudy' at the Etihad rather than a first-choice player.
Is it necessary for Manchester City to sign PSG's Lyvian Kurzawa?
Manchester City are the clear favourites to win the Premier League in 2021-22. The way Pep Guardiola has handled his team is the cause for City's outstanding performances this season. The defending Premier League winners have the advantage of having tremendous depth in every position. As a result, many people were surprised to hear that Manchester City was interested in signing Lyvian Kurzawa. The Cityzens have a lot of depth at full-back, thus the prospects of Kurzawa signing with the club are slim.
