The Ghanaian Parliament approved two loans on Tuesday for the construction and equipping of major hospitals in the Ashanti Region and its environs.

The loans total 38 million euros and will be used to build forty-bed district hospitals in Ayensuano, Effiduase, and Offinso, as well as complete and equip the maternity blocks in Old Tafo and Kumasi South.

In addition, the Government of Ghana and the Federal Republic of Germany have agreed to fund the green credit line with 20 million euros as part of their reform and investment relationship.

Dr. Nana Ayew Afiriyie, MP for Effiduase-Asokore, presented the Health Committee's findings on the floor of parliament, explaining that the loans will assist the government in completing existing hospital improvements.

When the Ranking Member on the Finance Committee, Cassie Ato Forson, raised the question of quorum, the Majority Chief Whip and MP for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Mr. Frank Annor Dompreh, managed to get majority of his colleagues into the Chamber.
