Benito Owusu-Bio, the Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, has asked the Lands Commission to engage and work efficiently with traditional authorities in order to resolve the country's chronic land issues.

He said that, while the government has been given the authority to preserve the country's natural resource (land) in trust, traditional authorities are the true proprietors of the land, according to our customs and traditions.

On Friday, Mr. Owusu-Bio performed the ceremonial ceremony to establish the Lands Commission's Bono East Regional office.

The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of the Commission's services to the public, which include survey and mapping, property assessment, land management, and registration, among other things.

The commission's tasks, according to him, include registering deeds and documents that influence land, establishing standards for and regulating survey and mapping services, and so on.

He explained that the new Regional office was established to address the challenges that residents in that region of the country have in registering their holdings.

He urged the commission's workers to provide focused service to their clients.

In a speech delivered on his behalf by the Bono East Regional Minister, KwasiAduGyan, the formal inauguration of the Regional Lands Commission office would bring land management closer to the people and encourage inclusive development, in keeping with the purpose of the region's formation.

"Without good and suitable land management principles, there would be no sustainable growth, and both local and international investors will be hesitant to do business with us," he said.
