The Western Regional Delegates Conference of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) got off to a smooth start at the Nzema Manle Complex in the Ellembelle constituency to elect executive members to oversee the party's activities in the region for the next four years.

Delegates arrived as early as 6:00 a.m. from their various constituencies, while some slept the night at the location.

Meanwhile, followers of the various candidates danced to brass band music while singing party songs and custom-made songs for their candidates, dressed in their candidates' branded T-Shirts.

To guarantee peaceful elections, there is a large security presence, including National Security officers.  The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana is overseeing the election, which has a total of 335 voting delegates.

Nine Members of Parliament (MPs), ten Elders, ten Patrons, two National Council members, two Council of State members, 17 Regional Executives, and 17 delegates from each of the 17 constituencies make up the delegates.

Mr. Francis Ndede Siah, the party's Regional Chairman, who formally started the Conference, urged candidates to work together peacefully.

He implied that they are all members of one 'larger family,' whose fortunes should take precedence above individual interests.

Mr Siah, who is running for regional chairman unchallenged, encouraged the contestants to accept the poll results.

He also asked people to rally behind the victors in order to become a powerful force in the run-up to the 2024 national elections.

Mr Peter Mac Manu, the NPP's campaign manager for the 2020 elections, said the NPP was ahead of all other political parties in holding its delegates conference in the country, and urged everyone to accommodate one another regardless of the election's outcome because they were all part of the same elephant family.

He claimed that the NPP possessed the people resources and developmental prowess to win the general elections in 2024.

Mr Manu expressed confidence that the NPP will be re-elected in 2024 as a result of its hard work and development program.
