MARCA is presented to Antonio Rüdiger (Berlin, 1993) at the German team's concentration in Herzogenaurach, the location where the Dasler brothers were born and where they founded two of the world's most powerful and oldest sports brands:
Adidas and Puma. The city is still divided in two by the factories, as it was the day the brothers began the battle, and Germany sleeps on the campus that the three-band brand erected on a World War II military installation.
He prepares the League of Nations there. Antonio Rüdiger daydreaming about her Real Madrid debut, unquestionably the most important milestone in his career.
The defender spends half an hour with MARCA, preparing for his presentation on June 20 to introduce himself to Real Madrid fans. Rüdiger commits to deliver his heart every minute he wears white, excited, eager, and accountable for the struggle that lies ahead. He rushes to pick up his new shirt as soon as he notices that the MARCA envoys have delivered it to the German headquarters. He picks it up and poses with it for the June 9 cover illustration.
He describes himself as a charismatic footballer who is tough on the field. However, we were able to confirm that he was close, humble, and nice. With you, Antonio Rüdigera, a player who will blend in nicely with the rest of the team.
Ask. It's been less than a week since Real Madrid confirmed his arrival. What sensations are you experiencing?
Response. I'm quite proud, yet I still don't understand what it all means because I haven't visited Madrid yet. As soon as this concentration with Germany is finished, I'll go with my entire family, and I believe that's when I'll truly understand what this Real Madrid signing means.
P. Do you understand that this is the most important move in your career?
R. I believe there are chapters in both football and life, and this is a new one for me. Obviously, this new chapter is significant; it represents a significant step forward for me. It's most likely the biggest in my entire life.
Q. Tell the truth to me. What was the total number of bids she received?
R. There have been numerous discussions during this time, but to be honest, I only considered Madrid or Chelsea.
"In every game, I will give my all."
Rüdiger, Antonio
P. What is the first thing that comes to mind when Real Madrid calls?
R. Imagine my surprise when I first heard about Madrid. It was as if someone said, "Wow!" I believe the first time they contacted me was in September or October. It was incredible to receive a call from a club like this.
P. What are your thoughts when you score a goal for Chelsea at the Santiago Bernabéu? In that situation, how did he feel?
R. It was my first visit to the Santiago Bernabéu, and we had gone to view it the day before. When you glance up, you can see the entire play's framework... You recognize that it is a unique location and that you want to play in these types of games and stadiums. You want to be there as well as compete against Madrid. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned that day, and they were crowned champions. So my applause goes out to them.
P. Did you enjoy the stadium? yes, yes I've already seen images of how it'll appear once the repair is completed, and it'll be a lot better. I am eagerly anticipating
"We have to have Rüdiger in the team," Ancelotti informed the club after that game.
R. Yes... In the realm of football, everyone knows who Ancelotti is. He is a top coach, as evidenced by his victories in LaLiga and the Champions League. I don't think I need to say much about him; all I can say is that it is a big honor for me that a coach like Ancelotti thinks so highly of me. He's been on TV since he was a kid. It is a privilege.
P. Have you had a chance to speak with Ancelotti?
R. Yes, I've had a conversation with him.
P. How did the discussion go?
R. When everything was already closed, it was a welcome talk.
She told me that everyone in Madrid was delighted to see me, which makes me extremely pleased. It is undeniable that Ancelotti is one of the key figures in Real Madrid's success, but he is not the only one. He told me that Benzema, Toni Kroos, Modric, and Casemiro were all very happy, which makes me proud. It also allows me to see how well I've performed over the last three years, which provides me with a lot of desire to perform even better at Real Madrid.
When you go into the Santiago Bernabéu, you immediately recognize that it is a unique location.
P. Antonio Rüdiger You've made it to the 14 European Cup teams. Is the player under any additional stress as a result of this?
R. Yes, there is pressure, but Real Madrid has a long history. They are accustomed to winning, and their mindset is one of victory. His winning mentality, on the other hand, fits my personality.
P.On the field, he is clearly a leader. He was even seen appealing with a Spanish official, Del Cerro Grande, for a penalty on Tuesday...
[Risas] R. Leadership is a skill that comes naturally to some people. As a defender, you must be aware of your surroundings and communicate with your teammates... That is exactly what I attempt to do. I enjoy having good communication and motivating others. It's something natural about me that comes out like way, not an act.
Q. How is Rüdiger doing away from the pitch?
R. On the field, I am the polar opposite of what you see. I don't consider myself a celebrity; I'm just a regular guy. I am fortunate in that I have a decent life and play for major clubs, which is why I like to give back to the community a large portion of what people and football have given me. I enjoy volunteering at hospitals and being in Sierra Leone...
I grew up in a very different setting than I do now. We weren't particularly wealthy, but I've always felt wealthy when I've been with my family. True wealth, in my opinion, is family.
