According to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), the cancellation of Dr. Kwabena Duffuor's Ahotor project event at the party's headquarters at the eleventh hour was due to certain differences.
On the 7th of June 2022 in Accra, the event was set to take place at the party's headquarters in Adabraka.
Some sympathizers and members of the NDC resorted to social media to voice their displeasure with the situation.
However, in reaction to an item in the Informer Newspaper, the General Secretary, John Aseidu Nketia, issued a press release stating that the event had been canceled owing to unresolved business between Dr. Duffuor and the party.
"A mutually acceptable agreement was made last week in our FEC meeting with Dr. Duffour in attendance, and we planned the presentation of the Ahotor project items to the party for Tuesday, June 7th, 2022."
"The event was delayed due to some difficulties identified by the donor during the final meeting with components of the agreement that required more study and clearance by FEC," revealed the General Secretary.
The basis of the dispute with the former Central Bank Governor was not specified in the announcement.

ABOUT OFOSU AMPOFO GETTING DIRTY.
Our attention has been directed to the above headline on the front page of the Informer newspaper today, Wednesday, June 8, 2022.
The author of the said publication attempted to create the false impression that our great Party's National Chairman, Hon. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has engaged in some dirty maneuvering to sabotage the smooth launch of the Ahotor project, which is being sponsored by Dr. Kwabena Duffour, a former minister of finance during the Mills/Mahama administration.
We'd like to state for the record that the NDC's Functional Executive Committee has met with Dr. Duffour and his team several times since the project was proposed to try to streamline an implementation scheme for the project that will satisfy the donor's intentions without jeopardizing the Party's rules and principles.
Last week, in our FEC meeting, with Dr. Duffour in attendance, we reached a mutually acceptable agreement, and we planned the presentation of the Ahotor project items to the party for Tuesday, June 7th, 2022. The event was delayed due to difficulties highlighted by the donor during the final meeting regarding components of the agreement that required more discussion and approval by FEC.
We also want to state that decision-making in the NDC is firmly governed by the Party's constitution, not by the demands of any individual, no matter how powerful he or she may be.
