The Nigerian police force has arrested a teenage criminal who uses a wooden toy gun to threaten his victims making them transfer money to his bank account before eventually freeing them. Upon exhibition of the wooden gun after his arrest, he molded the wood into the shape of an AK47 and painted it black to make it look exactly like a real one.
Other instruments retrieved were a sharp kitchen knife and other deadly tools giving the police the impression he is more likely to have attacked some of his previous victims.
According to the police, Emmanuel Peace operates with a dummy wooden gun, forcing victims without cash to make bank transfers to an account belonging to one “Anwanga Abasi Nathaniel Udo“.
He was apprehended by the Okpanam Division of the Delta State Police Command following a distress call by residents during an operation he was making.
It was gathered from the acting PPRO of the state command, DSP Bright Edafe that the suspect had successfully forced an aged couple to make a transfer of 600,000 nairas to the account before his arrest.
Exhibits recovered from him at the point of arrest are two knives and a torchlight including the dummy gun used to scare his victims. The police added that investigations are still ongoing and if he's found guilty he will face the law.
Internet users have reacted to the news and asked the law enforcement to serious deal with him to set an example for other perpetrators looking forward to engaging in such criminal acts.
There have been similar cases covered by various news agencies, but the perpetrators seem not to be bothered as they are still devising new ways of robbing people of their hard-earned properties. According to residents, Emmanuel is said to have been doing this for a very long time and finally, his cup has been full.
