With "immediate effect," Ryan Giggs has quit as manager of Wales.
After being detained in November 2020, the 48-year-old former Manchester United winger quit his job.
Giggs has refuted the claims that he assaulted his ex-girlfriend and used coercive behaviour.
In Giggs' absence, Robert Page took over as Wales' temporary manager and guided them to their first World Cup finals since 1958.
Giggs issued the following statement: "After careful deliberation, I have decided to resign as manager of the Wales men's national team, effective immediately.
"Managing my nation has been an honour and a pleasure, but it is only appropriate that the Wales FA, the coaching staff, and the players get ready for the tournament with certainty.
Following Giggs' declaration, the Football Association of Wales issued their own statement.
The statement read: "The FAW places on record its appreciation to Ryan Giggs for his term as manager of the Cymru men's national team and recognises the choice he has taken, which is in the best interests of Welsh football.
The Fifa World Cup in Qatar later this year is the exclusive focus of the FAW and the Cymru men's national team.
Page, a 47-year-old former captain of Wales, who has been Giggs' assistant since August 2019, took command of games beginning in November 2020 and led Wales to victory in their Nations League group.
In March 2021, when Wales began their 2022 World Cup campaign, he continued to fill in for Giggs, who was appointed by Wales in January 2018.
Wales would qualify for the World Cup finals in Qatar for the first time in 64 years thanks to a stunning play-off final victory against Ukraine in June 2022.
In Group B, Wales will compete against Iran, England, and the United States. On November 21, Wales will face the United States.
Wales also advanced to the round of 16 of the Euro 2020 finals, which were postponed until 2021 owing to the Covid-19 epidemic, under Page's direction. Page is currently anticipated to be named the permanent manager of Wales.
In regards to his coercive and manipulative behaviour toward his ex-girlfriend Kate Greville between August 2017 and November 2020, Giggs has entered a not guilty plea.
Additionally, he has entered a not guilty plea to attacking Ms. Greville and inflicting her actual bodily harm. Due to a shortage of available court space, the trial was initially slated to begin in January but was delayed until August 8. A minimum of five days will pass throughout the trial.
Giggs stated, "I do not want the prolonged attention around this matter to influence, destabilise, or jeopardise in any way the nation's World Cup preparations.
"I regret that we are unable to continue on this trip together because I am confident that this exceptional team will bring honour to the nation when we host the first World Cup since 1958.
"I plan to pick up where I left off in my managing profession at a later time."
