Dr. Banda Khalifa, a global health expert and health adviser at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, claims that intimate physical contact with contaminated surfaces and materials rather than via the air like Covid-19 is the typical method of Marburg virus transmission.

He claims that rather than just sitting across from an infected individual at a table, for example, one is more likely to contract Marburg by touching or coming into contact with that person's body fluids, such as blood, urine, or saliva.

He remarked, "Classically, we don't say it's airborne," on JoyNews' PM Express. Therefore, haemorrhagic fevers like Marburg, Ebola, and others are not often airborne illnesses. Therefore, it is quite improbable that you will get it if you are seated across from someone.

You must come into contact with an infected person directly due to the mechanism of transmission. Direct touch is when you come into direct contact with anything contagious. Consequently, you would need to come into touch with liquids that are known to contain the pathogenic agent.

"For instance, if someone is bleeding, there will be blood, and if you contact it while having exposed skin surfaces, you might become infected. When you come into physical touch with someone, let's say through their urine, saliva, or in certain situations, semen.

"Then, if there are fluids on the stuff that the individual may have used, such as bed linens and other items, and you contact them You will most likely become infected. However, you are not at risk until you come into touch with those objects.

In the Ashanti Region, two positive cases were recorded on July 8.

A 26-year-old man who entered a hospital on June 26 and passed away on June 27 was the first case. The second case involved a male patient, 51, who entered the hospital on June 28 and passed away the same day.

Before passing away at the hospital, the two patients had gone to the same hospital with symptoms including diarrhoea, fever, nausea, and vomiting.

Regular hand washing with soap and water has been recommended by health professionals as a smart strategy to prevent illness.
