STOP INSULTING LEADERS, WARNS CITIZENS PROF. MENSA-BONSU

Prof. Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu, a Supreme Court Justice, has recommended people to avoid saying and doing anything that tend to disparage the nation's leaders.



According to her, such measures had the potential to engender discontent among the populace, which would result in national instability.


Prof. Mensa-Bonsu continued, "Keeping our peace and resolving our differences inside a peaceful nation is what holds a positive future for all of us, particularly those of us with our best years already behind us."

She claimed that via her work as the UN Mission in Liberia's Deputy Special Representative for Rule of Law for the UN Secretary-General, she had seen that surviving a conflict might be just as challenging as surviving a peaceful time.

She also pleaded with political leaders to keep an eye on the social temperature of the polity and promote social cohesiveness to keep citizens at peace while speaking at the Accra book launch of her book, "Joy: A biography of Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu".


Prof. Mensa-Bonsu also advised the populace to acquire confidence and trust in their leaders' ability because they possessed the resources to advance the nation.


"As citizens, we must have a little more faith in ourselves because, however one measures our capacity and output, we are globally competitive," she continued.

Regarding the book


The 22-chapter book, which Kofi Akpabli evaluated, describes experiences from Prof. Mensa-early Bonsu's years, educational journey, participation in high-profile official tasks, marriage, and presidency of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences.


The prof. Mensa-ability Bonsu's to manage the family and balance her professional work is also highlighted in the 412 page book.


Among other dignitaries, Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah, the Chief Justice, Justices of the Supreme Court, attorneys, academics, and students attended the ceremony.

Commendation


Professor Jonathan Narh Ayertey, a famous entomologist who released the book, praised the author for her adept performance in all tasks given to her in her professional life.


He recommended the populace, in particular the youth, to use the book to help mould their life by learning valuable lessons.




Prof. Audrey Gadzekpo, dean of information and communication studies at the University of Ghana, noted that while the book gave readers a glimpse into the life and work of Prof. Mensa-Bonsu, it did not list all of her publications.


She characterised the author as a natural leader who overcomes setbacks with dignity and elegance, traits that everyone should aspire to.
