The administration is dedicated to addressing issues of teen pregnancy, maternal mortality, and youth empowerment in the nation, according to Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey.
She stated that in order to ensure sexual and reproductive health for every Ghanaian, the government will work in conjunction with the UNFPA going forward.

When Dr. David Wilfred Ochan, the new UNFPA Country Representative, submitted his credentials to the minister in her office in Accra, she stated this.
She welcomed Dr. Ochan to Ghana and offered her congratulations on his appointment and taking on new responsibilities.
Dr. Ochan thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration for its recent assistance in the UNFPA's eighth Country Programme (2023–2027) approval process as well as for supporting the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD)+25 review processes and the ongoing tracking systems with the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC).
He also praised the Ministry for helping to facilitate Ghanaian delegation participation in international and regional fora hosted by the UN agency, as well as for its strong support of UNFPA in Ghana.
Government assistance
Dr. Ochan reaffirmed UNFPA's commitment to supporting the wellbeing of the Ghanaian people via the eighth approved Country Programme and conveyed, via the Foreign Minister, the best wishes of UNFPA Executive Director Dr. Natalia Kanem to the Ghanaian people.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, he claimed, "has been really helpful to us. With your help, we promise to keep doing our hardest to stop all maternal deaths, family planning needs that go unmet, and harmful behaviours such as sexual and gender-based violence in Ghana.
The UNFPA representative emphasised the need to intensify work in these areas by collaborating with governmental organisations, the private sector, institutions of faith and culture, and organisations led by women and young people, as well as by utilising opportunities for South-South and Triangular Cooperation.
