The expense of school shouldn't be used as an excuse to deny any gifted youngster the right to an education, according to Farouk Aliu Mahama, member of parliament for the Yendi Constituency.
He claims that it was this commitment that led him to launch the Farouk Aliu Mahama Educational Care Fund (FAMEC-FUND), which has already helped more than 150 students pursue their educational goals.
The MP said that since taking government, he had spent more than Gh5 million caring for these pupils.
The Member of Parliament wants to make Yendi into one of the most developed locations in the nation. This vision is known as the New Yendi City. The vision recognises the importance of education for human growth as well as the New Yendi City's transformation plan.
He has made investments in the agenda that include, among other things, the development of human resources and the renovation and extension of the infrastructure.
In similar spirit, he organised an awards programme to recognise the commitment to duty of 20 instructors.
The MP stated during the first awards event that the teachers' support is essential for the investment in education that would alter the region.
"More than any other school component, teachers have a crucial impact in how students do academically. My administration is still dedicated to the welfare of our teachers, and we will make sure they have the resources, training, and assistance they need to produce high-quality learning outcomes that will support our developmental goals, he added.
He said that without education, his late father, who was from a lowly background, would not have earned the post of Vice President of Ghana.
"Education is the sole means of advancing from being the kid of a Koko vendor in Yendi to being a distinguished engineer and ultimately our nation's Vice President. My late father, His Excellency Alhaji Aliu Mahama, was a great supporter of a high level of living. He was concerned with releasing us from the chains of poverty via the power of education. The most effective tool against poverty, illiteracy, and other human sorrows, he claimed in his own words, is education, Mr. Farouk remarked.
I need to thank you because when I first came here, I noticed your excellent efforts all around the municipality. I will also urge you to keep up the good job since you are helping your community, Mr. Mohammed stated.
Alhaji Yussif Ahmed Abubakar, the municipal chief executive of Yendi, warned the teachers against indiscipline and asked them to take their duties seriously.
In his words, "Some teachers have not been able to work properly because of self control, some are either lazy and don't prepare lesson notes or are constant absentees."
