It's no secret that Chelsea are looking for options to join Reece James at right-back. The England national team is very prone to injuries and often find themselves on the treatment table. Bruce has several options to land the right-back role, but none better than Dumfries. The talented Dutch player is Inter's incredible presence at Milan and his qualities are undeniable.
Anyone who has watched Euro 2020 and FIFA World Cup 2022 knows how good the Dutch defenders are on the day. Dumfries excels up front and is no slouch on defense.
As a full-back for both the national team and Inter Milan, Dumfries has been given the freedom to move forward and this is where a defender really shines. This is also Chelsea's only problem.
As good as Dumfries is, it remains to be seen how he will perform in the back four that Graham Potter favors in most games. The Dutch should know that this is a position that needs a little adjustment.

Both are world class players and ideally want to start every week. If Chelsea are only looking to replace Reece James, Dumfries is not the answer. But if you're looking to build a model like Man City where he has two starters at each position, it makes sense.
Chelsea's ever-expanding squad would be even bigger if Dumfries were actually here. This is truly a test of his leadership skills, and time will tell if he succeeds spectacularly.
