According to Kamala Harris, vice president of the United States, women everywhere must be able to fully engage in leadership positions in the political, social, and economic spheres.
In addition, she bemoaned the fact that gender disparities exist everywhere in the world, including in the United States, and called for their addressing on the continent of Africa as well as the rest of the world. She claimed that doing that was essential to maximising global growth and opportunity.
"While women cultivate most of the food, they are less likely to be in debt for the land they farmed. They are the majority of frontline workers, yet their health outcomes differ.
Women who own their own businesses still have restricted access to markets and funding. She pointed out that despite being peacemakers and bridge builders, they are still underrepresented at the tables where choices are made.
The US Vice President asserts that a variety of factors, including economic empowerment, have an impact on a woman's capacity to survive and thrive. She further states that "when we lift up the economic status of a woman, let's be clear, we lift up the economic status of her children, her family, and her community. The whole economy gains.
She reaffirmed that the United States of America will now collaborate with its allies on a daily basis to eliminate gender disparities both on the continent and globally.
Finally, we think that the idea of freedom is the foundation of women's empowerment. We want everyone to have the freedom to build their own futures, not only the freedom from violence or want, she added.

Ms. Harris said she was immensely honoured to be in Ghana, to the people of the amazing continent, and to "all the young leaders with us today - students, entrepreneurs, activists, and advocates" when she gave her keynote presentation at the Black Star Gate in Accra.
"It is a great honour for me to be here with you. I won't tell you that the average age of individuals on the African continent is 19 and that by 2050, one in four of them would be. The entire globe will congregate on this land. one out of four. Naturally, that implies that what occurs on one continent affects the entire planet, she remarked.

The audience that had come to see the event erupted in thunderous applause as she declared, "Our conviction is that the empowering of women is founded in the notion of freedom, not only freedom from violence and conflict but freedom to build one's own destiny."
