The chiefs and residents of Antoa in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region have recognized a native for his ongoing assistance in empowering community members via his social intervention programs, particularly in education. J. K. Mensah
Hundreds of people gathered to express their gratitude to Mr. Mensah, who is currently the Chairman of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) and a former Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, at an event on Easter Sunday that was organized by the Antoa Youth Association and supported by the traditional authority of Antoa.
The young people presented him with a citation, lovely Kente clothing, and a ram as a token of their appreciation for him.
The young people also contributed GH20,000 in cash as a start-up donation to the planned J.K. Mensah Educational Foundation, which aims to aid gifted but underprivileged students in their pursuit of higher education.
Ceremony
The Gyasehene of Antoa, Nana Agyenim Boateng, the Minister of National Security, Albert Kan-Dapaah, a few elected officials, Mr. Mensah's relatives and friends, as well as members of the celebrant's Men's Fellowship at St. Ann's Anglican Church in Ashtown, Kumasi, were present.
The leadership of the town's numerous churches was also there, and they all placed their hands on the celebrant while praying for God to keep watching over and guiding him and his family.
There were also Mr. Mensah's wife, Nana Akosua Adomah Mensah, their four children, and some grandkids.
With drumming, dancing, and a vibrant cultural show accompanying them, the Methodist Brigade in Antoa escorted the celebrant and a few dignitaries through the main streets of the town.
The Antoa Seventh Day Adventist Church choir was present to sing beautiful songs.
Commendation
In a brief statement, Mr. Kan-Dapaah listed the different sorts of assistance Mr. Mensah had provided to the local community and the country as a whole, claiming that it was understandable why he had been granted the Order of the Volta Award under the presidency of President John Agyekum Kufuor.
The minister claimed that the fact that the people of Antoa selected an important holiday like Easter Sunday to honor him was also unsurprising.
Mr. Kan-Dapaah gave money in support of the envisioned foundation for education.
The acknowledgement of Mr. Mensah, according to the area's Municipal Chief Executive, Opoku Agyemang, did not come as a surprise because of his immeasurable contributions to the community's growth.
The event's chair, Jacob Eugene Kojo Yeboa, the Deputy Controller and Accountant General in charge of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), and the Director of the Keta Port, Dr. Alexander Yaw Adusei Jr., expressed their gratitude to Mr Mensah for all that he had accomplished for mankind.
