"I've never had an afternoon like this." There are a lot of visitors, but none of them, in my opinion, have ever done what I have witnessed.

"I can only express my shock and joy at what is happening here." Please accept my congratulations. You came and made my day bright today.

When pupils from the Uaddara Junior High School (JHS) in Kumasi presented him with an electronic road safety gadget they had manufactured at the Jubilee House yesterday, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo made these comments.

The "Illuminated Child Safety Device" was created by a six-person, all-female team at the school with the goal of enhancing efforts to lessen accidents involving pedestrians.

The school recently received the Overall Best Award at the Ghana Science and Technology Explorer Prize (G-STEP) in Accra thanks to a solution that was the result of a frantic worry for the pupils' safety and a mix of innovation and craftsmanship.

A plaque and GH 80,000 were given to the Uaddara JHS to be used on STEM supplies.

Akua Acheampomaa Appau, Comfort Boampomaa Essel, Priscilla Osei Tutu, Princess Helen Korankye Agyemang, and Persis Oppong Agyemang were the other members of the squad, which was commanded by Priscilla Appiah.

While using a removable panel to cross the road, the pedestrian employs a system with an alarm to alert approaching automobiles.

The "stop" light button on the panel's accessibility feature turns on at night

According to the creators, the eight-foot-tall contraption was created to address traffic incidents involving students who were struck by swerving cars while walking to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Think about using a gadget

President Akufo-Addo ordered the ministries of roads and highways and transport to think about using the gadget after witnessing the students explain how it functions to help lower traffic accidents in the nation.

The President stated that although the students' goal was to establish a method for decreasing accidents in their community, they had instead created a method that may help reduce traffic accidents all throughout the country.

The girls were referred to as the "next Einsteins" by President Akufo-Addo, who also emphasized that their work inspired the younger generation and the need to work to ensure that the education provided to children mirrored the 21st century.

According to him, the most remarkable success story of the twenty-first century was China's economy, where 40% of students at tertiary institutions were studying engineering and science. He said that the present education system is centered on science and technology.

These are the numbers, according to President Akufo-Addo, that the nation hopes to accomplish through investments in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) in order to transform the nation. To become the best inventors, he challenged the pupils to work even harder in their studies.

The pupils received an unknown monetary contribution from President Akufo-Addo.
