In Accra, hundreds of followers of the Ahlussunna Wal-Jama'A sect gathered yesterday for a special prayer to commemorate the conclusion of the 29-day Ramadan fast.
Muslims all across the world celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr to praise and honor Allah for sustaining them during the month-long fasting period.
As early as 7:00 a.m., male and female worshippers of all ages flocked to the grounds with their prayer mats in a joyful mood and dressed in their finest attire to see the prayer. Members of the group participated in such prayers all around the nation.
Vendors selling religious apparel and accessories were present on the sides.
Various ethnic groups and their leaders would celebrate in their communities later in the day by dancing, riding horses, and parading through several major streets amid pomp and ceremony.
Negate LGBTQ
Sheikh Mohammed Kamil Mohammed, the sect's deputy national chief imam, presided over the gathering before preaching on the significance of Eid-ul-Fitr and the month of Ramadan.
Sheikh Mohammed encouraged the populace and the government to oppose measures that would legalize LGBTQ behavior in the nation.
"Brothers and sisters in Islam, in these times when so much effort is being made to legalize everything under the pretense of basic human rights, like the disgusting problem of LGBTQ, we need to close our ranks and strengthen our solidarity with one another. "Our ability to stand together against attempts to push unlawful actions down our throats," he remarked.
He claims that the Qur'an expressly bans all LGBTQ behavior.
Vigilance
Sheikh Mohammed also warned parents to keep an eye on their kids, especially teenagers, emphasizing that youth were the religion's future and that what they were taught at home showed up in how they behaved.
"As our nation faces several issues, we must constantly speak with one voice." Fortunately for us, our country's imam is still active and wise despite his advanced age.
Therefore, in order to guarantee that our objectives are achieved, it is imperative that we all provide him with the assistance he needs.
Sheikh Kamil Mohammed prayed for Allah to protect the country's leaders and people from all types of internal and external attack that can threaten the nation's peace, stability, decency, and unity.
