The Jospong Group of Companies has received a €30 million facility from the Austrian government for the growth of its rice-producing operation there.

As he made the announcement in Accra on Wednesday, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo thanked the Austrian government for their kindness and pointed out that the Jospong Group had already set up 16 integrated recycling and composting facilities with the help of the Austrian government.

Speaking during a luncheon in celebration of Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, who is in Ghana for a three-day official visit, was President Akufo-Addo.

He is the first Chancellor of Austria to visit Ghana.

Following government efforts to enhance the nation's rice output, the Jospong Group has entered the field of large-scale mechanized rice cultivation.

Since then, the business has entered into agreements to provide Ghana with agricultural equipment and rice mills, as well as to construct centers for rice mechanization, bio-organic fertilizer manufacturing, and seed development and research.

two-way interactions

Two agreements, one for general collaboration and the other for defense cooperation, were signed between the visiting Austrian delegation and their Ghanaian counterpart during the bilateral conversation.

a foundation for collaboration

President Akufo-Addo stated that Ghanaians valued their connection and relationship with Austria and that the assistance given to indigenous Ghanaian companies like Jospong Group and others created a stable foundation for cooperation and collaboration between the two nations.

According to him, the close cooperation of stable, fully operational democracies like Ghana and Austria in the twenty-first century would greatly promote the development of stable constitutional governments across the world, which could only be advantageous and serve the welfare of the peoples of Africa and Europe.

According to President Akufo-Addo, he also sees the potential for more commerce, investment, and collaboration between Ghana and Austria.

The most effective method to preserve a positive relationship between our two countries and a sustainable future of growth and prosperity for our respective populations, he continued,

He claimed that, like the rest of the world, Ghana had not been immune to the effects of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and that it was, of course, expected that it could be resolved as quickly as possible in order to speed up the nation's and the world economy's economic recovery and to ensure peace in Europe.

Commitment

As part of the bilateral relationship with Ghana, Chancellor Nehammer remarked, "Today, we confirm our commitment to seal this military cooperation agreement between our two governments."

He praised the Ghana Armed Forces for playing a key role as a pillar of regional security in a difficult geopolitical context and said Austria was glad to support Ghana in such a difficult undertaking.

The second aim, according to him, was to promote trade links, which would be demonstrated by Austrian businesses looking to expand operations in Ghana.

Austria was establishing new embassies all over the world, according to Chancellor Nehammer, and Accra was at the top of his priority list since the embassy would energize all facets of bilateral ties with Ghana.
