Your Chelsea morning digest on Tuesday, May 2.

First Pochettino transfer 'confirmed

Mauricio Pochettino will face a busy first few months at Chelsea - should he finally be confirmed as their new manager - with the summer transfer window set to be a decisive one for the Blues.

A striker is desperately needed with no Chelsea star at double figures for goals in this campaign. Thankfully for Pochettino, ahead of his expected arrival, that is one problem that could already have a solution.

The arrival of Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig in west London has been all but announced. The move is expected to still go through despite no official confirmation, however the Blues may have received that on Sunday after some comments of Leipzig manager Marco Rose.

Ansu Fati chance back on

Barcelona star Ansu Fati could be set to leave the Spanish club this summer after struggling for minutes in the 2022/23 season.

Despite scoring four goals and notching three assists from 30 La Liga games, the forward has mostly had to settle for cameo appearances.

His future now could be elsewhere, with his agent Jorge Mendes telling Barcelona that a Premier League club will pay 70million (61.5m) for Fati this summer, which may alert Chelsea.

Lampard on injuries for Arsenal

Frank Lampard has revealed that Kalidou Koulibaly will miss Chelsea's clash against Arsenal on Tuesday night but Kai Havertz could return to the matchday squad.

Havertz missed the 2-0 loss against Brentford last week but is in contention to play against Mikel Arteta's side at the Emirates Stadium tomorrow night.

Arsenal news: Mikel Arteta plans Declan Rice transfer talks as William Saliba to miss Chelsea

All the latest Arsenal news and transfer gossip including updates on Mikel Arteta's plans to hold talks with Declan Rice, Charlie Patino's future and William Saliba's injury

Your morning Arsenal digest on Tuesday, May 2.

Arsenal facing Serge Gnabry transfer repeat

Arsenal talent Charlie Patino looks set to leave the club on a permanent deal this summer after a successful loan spell with Blackpool. The Gunners activated an option to extend Patinos contract until 2025, but he is unlikely to feature in Mikel Artetas plans next season.

A report from The Athletic states that amicable talks have taken place between Arsenal and Patino, with the club ready to help facilitate a switch as interest grows from UK and across Europe. The 19-year-old has represented England at youth level but also holds a Spanish passport through his father, which creates more possibilities for the creative player at club and international level.

Mikel Arteta plans face-to-face Declan Rice transfer talks

Arteta wants to hold talks with Rice as soon as the season ends, according to The Mirror. The Arsenal boss is increasingly confident he can land the West Ham midfielder despite the Gunners faltering title bid.

The report adds that Arsenals head coach, who used to play in midfield himself, believes he can help convince the 100million-rated star to move to the Emirates Stadium ahead of Premier League rival interest. Arteta will urge the Gunners to make an official approach once the season has ended to try to tee up a huge transfer when the window opens in June.

Arsenal to be without William Saliba against Chelsea

Mikel Arteta has confirmed William Saliba will not feature for Arsenal against Chelsea.

The Frenchman has been out of action since limping off during the Europa League round of 16 second leg tie against Sporting CP in the middle of March, subsequently missing the last six games in a row with a back injury.

When speaking ahead of the Gunners trip to the Etihad Stadium last week Arteta revealed that he wasn't expecting to have Saliba available for selection for Tuesday night's London derby and that's proven to be the case, with yet another worrying update with regard to the defender.

"He's not going to be involved tomorrow," the Spaniard said in the pre-match press conference. "We will have to wait until the next game to see where we are."
