A recent comparison between Liverpool and title contenders Arsenal reflects favorably on Jürgen Klopp's side, providing reason for optimism ahead of next season.

Liverpool's 1-0 win over Fulham on Wednesday extended their best form of the season. The Red Devils have now won five games after recovering, going from eighth in the Premier League to fifth.

But you can also take it further. Since the end of January, they have won 9 matches and drawn 3 of the 15 matches played. Over the course of that streak, there have been a number of bad defeats - an embarrassing 0-3 loss to Wolves, a 1-4 defeat to Manchester City and a 0-1 loss to Bournemouth that looks to cost more than a week away. .

But in general, Jürgen Klopp's army has performed quite well in this tournament during the past 3 months.

This is most evident when compared to the title-chasing Arsenal. In that 15-game span, the Reds have, somewhat notably, edged the Gunners by two points. A total of nine wins, three draws and three losses, coach Mikel Arteta's teachers and students more than one win and less than one draw. If you were an Arsenal fan, you would say it's an arbitrary amount of time that doesn't matter much. And that's very true, but the reality is that Liverpool are moving up to the elite level in terms of results. It's not quite there yet, but it's definitely on the right track.

Unfortunately, this streak may not be enough for the Red Devils to finish in the top four, as their efforts have not been good in the early part of the season.

That says a lot that, even with 15 out of 15, they are still four points behind Manchester United, having played two more games at the time of writing. Meanwhile, Newcastle are two points behind and have their own match in hand. Liverpool's resurgence may simply have come too late in the season.

The fact that Newcastle still has to face Arsenal itself provides a glimmer of optimism, but the Warblers will remain strong contenders for fourth even if they lose.

Indeed, Trent Alexander-Arnold hinted after the win over Fulham that the dressing room does not consider Liverpool's top four prospects 'genuine' at this stage.

But that doesn't mean this recovery won't be worth anything. If the start of this season shows how long the negativity can last, perhaps the start of the 2023/24 season could demonstrate the impact of positive momentum.

The first months of the current campaign look like the aftermath of the brutality of May 2022, when the Red Devils were horribly robbed of Premier League and Champions League glory in just six days.

Another disappointment may await in the form of Europa League football, but it won't be on the same scale. If Klopp's men can achieve a positive result in the remaining four games, then they can enter the season with renewed optimism and confidence, which has reminded the football world, and more importantly, themselves. themselves, their abilities. And that was before the Cavalry hit the transfer market to further revive the team.
