The Special Prosecutor will examine the Majority Leader, a member of parliament from Asante-Akim North, about charges that a wealthy businessman attempted to bribe lawmakers who demanded the resignation of Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

According to Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu and Andy Appiah Kubi, an influential businessman in the nation tried to pay the NPP MPs to drop their demand.

They claim that the aforementioned businessman met with the MPs in Parliament to present his plan.

However, they avoided disclosing the identity of the alleged wealthy businessman to the public, which spurred the Special Prosecutor to look into the claims.

A few New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs urged Ken Ofori-Atta's resignation in October of last year due to his allegedly subpar performance.

About 80 MPs convened a news conference to urge the President to remove his cousin's role as national budget manager or else risk losing their support for future government initiatives.

Additionally, they demanded that Charles Adu Boahen, the minister of state for the ministry of finance, endure the same fate.

Andy Appiah-Kubi, the member of parliament for Asante Akyem North, spoke about it.

He claimed that despite attempts by the leadership to inform the Presidency of the call, it was unsuccessful.

"Notice is therefore served that we members of the Majority caucus here in parliament will not engage in any business of government by or for such individuals as the foregoing until such persons as the foregoing are compelled to resign or removed from office."

He clarified, "By the President [or] by any other ministry."

Later, the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonso, disclosed that a confidential businessman visited the Parliament House to settle the standoff in an appearance on JoyNews PM Express.

He said that the aforementioned businessman had encountered certain lawmakers while the debates in Parliament were at their most heated.

He informed Evans Mensah, "I have it on good authority that some businessman came here and attempted to do something."

The Suame MP stated that it was intended to encourage the house members against trying to force the minister out of his position.

He claimed, "I was informed he came here and tried to mediate in his own manner what he believes the situation is."

He went on to say that he was repulsed by the crowd and was advised not to get involved. Thus, he left.
