Hilda Bassey is a young Nigerian Chef that currently holds the record for the longest marathon cooking.
She Cooked for 100 hours nonstop . She owes a food brand in Lagos called "My Food by Hilda"
The record was held by an Indian Chef that goes by the name , Lata Tondon . She achieved this record in the year 2019 where she cooked for 87 hours and 45 minutes nonstop.
To achieve this record you have to mentally and physically prepared for the journey ahead and Hilda had an entire nation behind her .
The cooking took place at Amore Gardens, Lekki, Lagos State, Nigeria. She cooked around the clock . She had no sleep . Sources say she had only 5 mins of rest every hour . Other sources also claim that she had a 30 minutes rest every 6 hours in which a medical van was present and she would go into the van to rest , go to the restroom and also she had t be checked by the medicinal team . All the food she prepared was given out for FREE to the people that were present at that time .
She prepared different type of food simultaneously. ( NB: There is no law that states that she is supposed to prepare one food . She has the right to prepare different kind of food ) . The world record title is about cooking within a time frame and not the type of food you prepared. Every meal she prepared was recorded down . She began this amazing run on the 11th of May,2023 and achieved her goal on the 15th of May,2023.
The people of Nigeria stood beside her throughout everything to the extent that top celebrities even went by to show their love and support.
She had financial assistance from her mom who is also a chef and also she had sponsors . These sponsors supplied her with the cooking utensils, the foodstuffs etc . Uber, one of her partners also offered a 40% discount ride to the venue for people who wished to join and cheer her up at the venue.
This is what we call love and support. A new record has been achieved.
