There was some drama on Monday in the Bono Region during Dr. Bawumia’s thank-you tour when Kennedy Agyapong and NPP Bono Regional Chairman, Abronye, clashed in front of party supporters.
The tension started when Abronye gave his welcome speech. He made some comments that Kennedy Agyapong later took personally. Abronye questioned why some people were now preaching unity in the NPP when, according to him, those same people had previously made statements that divided the party and even helped the NDC in their campaign.
Abronye also disagreed with Kennedy Agyapong’s suggestion that the party should forgive and welcome back former members and those who are suspended. According to Abronye, doing that would promote indiscipline in the party. He said the party needs discipline, not sympathy for people who misbehaved.
When it was Kennedy Agyapong’s turn to speak, he didn’t hold back. Clearly angry, he fired back at Abronye. He said no one can intimidate him and accused some people in the party of acting like they own it. He also claimed that some of them don’t even contribute much but still make the most noise.
"Even poor people are talking, how much more us who have the money. Who born dog?" Kennedy Agyapong said, clearly frustrated.

He also criticised Abronye’s work as Regional Chairman, pointing out that under his leadership, the NPP only won one parliamentary seat in the region.
But Abronye responded by saying that it wasn’t his fault. He said the people in Bono voted massively for the NPP in 2016 and 2020, but the government didn’t listen to them. He mentioned that they kept asking for important projects like roads, but nothing happened between 2017 and 2024.
This back-and-forth shows that there are still some issues within the NPP, even as they try to move forward after the elections.
