A New Patriotic Party (NPP) women's organization has been established, and they are supporting Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in his bid to become the party's standard bearer.
Women from the party's 275 constituencies who will vote in the NPP flagbearer elections on November 4, 2023, make up the group known as Women Delegates for Bawumia.
The organization has vowed to cast a hefty number of votes in favor of Dr. Bawumia to head the party in the general election in 2024.
Maame Esi Davenport, the National Coordinator for the Women Delegates for Bawumia, stated during the movement's inauguration in Koforidua yesterday in the New Juaben South Constituency of the Eastern Region that the organization chose to support Dr. Bawumia since he was the sole candidate capable of winning for the NPP in 2024.
She said that because Dr. Bawumia was the best candidate to head the party at the next election, the women delegates had organized a group to canvass support for him.
80% votes
Ms. Davenport stated that the ladies aimed to obtain Dr. Bawumia's 80% of the vote and urged all movement supporters to vote accordingly.
She also urged the female delegates in the 33 constituencies in the area to cast a sizable number of ballots in favor of Dr. Bawumia at the NPP presidential primaries this year.
removing obstacles
Dr. Bawumia was the lone candidate among the others, according to Maame Esi, who said that when given the chance to control the nation's affairs, women would perceive themselves breaking down obstacles.
Only Dr. Bawumia, according to Ms. Davenport, "believes that women can succeed at the top, and for that reason, we are supporting him to be the next President of Ghana."
In order to mobilize the necessary votes for Dr. Bawumia to win the upcoming presidential primary and lead the party to victory at the upcoming general election, Michael Okyere Baafi, the Member of Parliament (MP) for New Juaben South Constituency, who hosted the event, called on all women in the NPP to act as campaign ambassadors in their various constituencies in the region.
