A nine-member interim management committee for the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region has been established by the Minister of Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development (LGDRD), Dan Kwaku Botwe, who has urged them to use all of their authority and power under the Local Government Act to advance the assembly.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo appointed the following individuals as members: Municipal Chief Executive Simon Kweku Tetteh; Municipal Coordinating Director Selorm Kwame Tsibu; Odumase-Krobo Circuit Court Judge Kwasi Appiatsi Abaidoo; Former Assembly Member Emmanuel Nuertey Siakwa; and Representative of Lower Manya Krobo Traders Association Manye Patience Yawah Ababio

History
Due to a legal proceeding against the Electoral Commission (EC) in 2012, the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality's District Level Election diverged from the national one, shifting the municipality's schedule from the national one.
Before the National District Level Elections in October 2019, the parliament was inaugurated as the seventh assembly on January 19, 2019.
As a result, the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly's seventh assembly's term expired on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, necessitating the holding of an election to satisfy a constitutional obligation.
Unfortunately, it was prevented by an injunction from the Koforidua High Court prohibiting the election, which was requested by two residents of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality in order to fill the void.
Mr. Botwe cited Section 6, Subsection 3, of the Local Governance Act 2016 (Act 936), which stated that the President could appoint an Interim Management Committee to carry out the duties of the assembly until an election was held or conducted, in cases like Lower Manya Krobo, where the EC was unable to conduct a district-level election.
According to him, the President nominated and appointed the committee members and gave them unlimited authority and power, which, when fully utilized, would encourage the municipality's economic and financial growth.
