Wilson earned a return to the international stage by scoring 11 goals in his final 12 outings for the Magpies last season.
Callum Wilson claimed that been cut from both Newcastle and the English team fueled his will to battle back.
The striker's post-World Cup slump kept him on the sidelines at Newcastle, where he made 13 appearances but only managed one goal.
He was also excluded from the opening victories in the Euro 2024 qualification series against Ukraine and Italy in March.
However, Wilson, who scored 11 goals in his final 12 games for Newcastle to propel them to fourth position in the Premier League, is back to face Malta on Friday before North Macedonia arrives at Old Trafford on Monday.
I was used to playing every single week but was now finding myself on the bench. I found myself playing for 10 minutes towards the end of the game while suddenly sitting on the sidelines.
I did not enjoy that. You want to have fun. You put in a lot of effort over the week, and on gameday, you want to shine and score goals. I realized I couldn't do that and that I needed to work even harder to rejoin the squad.
"Playing a World Cup in the winter was an odd one. Country and club are quite different things. Week in and week out, you are a consistent player at the club.
"Getting game time is a little harder to come by here, so you have to be patient, professional, and make sure you're giving it your all on the practice field.
"So to then return to club football was really exciting, as I had been away from it for so long, and I was thinking I am going to start playing again a little more, especially as I was feeling so sharp as I was at the World Cup," he continued.
I tried to use it constructively, but you do need to mentally refresh because you sometimes go without scoring goals.
