As the midfield player continues his recuperation from injury, Everton manager Sean Dyche has disclosed that Dele Alli has assumed a new role.

In January 2022, after his career at Tottenham Hotspur reached a dead end, Alli made the decision to move from North London to Everton.

However, the 27-year-old failed to rediscover his best football during his time with the Toffees and spent the majority of the 22/23 season on loan at Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas.

In an emotional interview with Gary Neville for The Overlap earlier this year, Alli disclosed his difficulties with mental health.

The midfield player said a new injury setback occurred last month, but he vowed to bounce back stronger than before. Speaking in a recent interview, Everton boss Dyche revealed that Alli has become a makeshift coach.

As per the Daily Mail, Dyche said: “I don't think he would mind me sharing that there probably was a period when (his career) was drifting for him.

“He had a lot going on. He is been able to concentrate on his football since that came out, and he is been actively taking in the information. "Even though he is not yet able to join us outside on the grass, he is still observing it and taking in what the staff and I have to say."

"He has clarity now," he continued. It was very difficult what he was going through, of course. We know that. However, he is eager to share and express an opinion.

We are having coffee in the canteen right now. Say something like, "Hey, Dele, how is it going?" What are your thoughts?’ He'll point out little things. ‘I thought that, I thought this.’ It's just a natural combination where we like players to share a view.

“It's a nice knock-on effect that you can share something with the group. You can say: ‘I was chatting with Dele the other day and he said this really important thing.’ When discussing direct football, as opposed to merely kicking the ball forward, we were very clear-headed.

“He said it was very similar to when Pochettino first went in at Tottenham. He used to talk about it all the time. I get the feeling that he is quite confident in himself. He's more than happy to share what he is thinking. These are amazing things he's experienced. Occasionally, people forget that.

Despite having a difficult start to the 23–24 season, Everton has won their last three games, including draws with Brighton and victories over West Ham and Burnley.

The Toffees are back in Premier League action this weekend as they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon.
