More bad news for FC Barcelona with keeper Marc Andre Ter Stegen expected to be out of action for a considerable time and early suggestions pointing to the end of the season for the German.
Just a few weeks ago, the club were dealt a major blow in Vallecas after Marc Bernal tore his cruciate ligament and following surgery, the young defender will miss the rest of the 2024-25 season.
At the Estadio de la Ceramica on Sunday, Marc André Ter Stegen was stretchered from the pitch after damaged his knee during the first half of the game against Villarreal and the player was quickly taken to the hospital to carry out the first tests to determine how serious the problem could be.
End of the season for Ter Stegen?
If the worst-case scenario is confirmed, Ter Stegen could be out of action for at least seven to nine months, meaning Hansi Flick would lose one of his key players with Iñaki Peña drafted in to man the sticks for the Catalan side.
Ter Stegen’s injury further aggravates the complicated situation in the Barça squad, with a total of eight key players now missing through injury: Frenkie, Gavi, Christensen, Fermín, Araújo, Olmo and the aforementioned Bernal.
